Peter Goes to Show and Tell

Last Friday Vera Kate took one of our family rabbits to show-n-tell!

This was Peter's first trip away from the house and WOW was he scared. The poor thing didn't eat or drink anything the whole morning he was gone.

We decided it was best for Peter, and the class, if he stayed in his cage during his visit. He was scared I was afraid he might try something! Haha! That wouldn't have been good!

Vera Kate's pre-K class and the three year olds play together and share alot of classroom time. So all together there are 30 youngin's in this group.....and they were ALL huddled up around Peter's cage. Bless his heart!

Vera Kate was soooo excited! Whitman on the other hand didn't know what to think about all these kids looking at HIS rabbit! As the kids layed on the floor to look in the cage Whit would step over them and on them! When he made it to the front of the cage he would start grunting and hollering at the kids...as if he was telling them to GET BACK!!! LOL! He was hilarious!

It was a great time and it made Vera Kate's world!

Cancelled Surgery

So Whitman is supposed to have MINOR surgery. Its nothing too big...I've definitely seen worse. But it is my baby boy and a Mommas got to worry. Right?!

I have prayed and prayed over this situation and I know that God is going to do HIS healing in HIS TIME! Remember Janie, His time not yours..( i seem to have a problem remembering that one sometimes)! But anyways, we have had this surgery scheduled TWICE now and we still can't seem to make it work. Poor Whit is teething and well we all know the NASTY side effects that comes with. Not to mention he has a little cold. So Cory and I have decided to just wait until after the first of the year to do Whit's procedure.

God knows what He is doing...He always does! So I have to remember to just let go and let GOD!

I apologize for not mentioning the change before but to be honest Whitman's sickness has kept my free time to a minimum. So please keep praying for God's healing. It is coming! But also please pray for wellness. I think we're just about over the teething stage so maybe this will give his little body some rest.

I pray that everyone has a safe and happy weekend! Love on those babies, spend those extra few moments playing with them, and hold them just a little bit tighter! They are beautiful, precious, gifts from our Lord so handle them with care!

Today my little man, Whitman, is 17 months old!

WOW, time has really flown!

He is getting to be so independent. A couple of weeks ago he wouldn't let me feed him. He wanted to do it and with a spoon/fork. He blows me away with how well he uses them. He normally has a great appetite but recently, with some more teeth coming in, he is just miserable.

But he thinks he is Mr. Big Stuff sitting at the table with his Sissies eating like them!

He almost does a better job, using utensils, then his sisters. LOL!

He has really grown up a lot here lately. He is understanding things a lot better. He listens and does a good job when you tell him to do something. He is getting better at showing me what he wants rather than me guessing half the time.

He plays on the playground/fort all by himself and can actually come down the slide even when I"m not standing right there. He GRUNTS at EVERYTHING!!!! He sounds like a miniature Tim the Tool Man! HA!

Boys are so different and so much fun! I love how unique they are! Whitman has his very own FLEET of tractors and we're working on the trucks. Not just any trucks either. They have to be RIGS that can haul his tractors...too funny! Like father like son. He not only looks like his Daddy but acts like him too! I pray that they will always remain close.

So here he is. My little BIG man! I can't believe how BIG he is getting!

Dear Father,

Thank you for your beautiful gift of children. May I always remember that they are a gift from you only! I have been blessed to have three beautiful girls and this precious little boy. I ask for your guidance as we try to raise him to be the Godly, loving, obedient man who loves and fears You. Thank you for entrusting Cory and I to raise Whitman. I am very honored. Protect his childhood and guide his steps that they may be close to You.

I love you Lord. Thank you.

Cora Jane and Vera Katherine are very lucky little girls!

They take dance every week with Mrs. Lisa at the Center Stage Dance Studio in Alma.

This is Cora Jane's 4th year, and Vera Kate's 3rd, taking dance and boy do they LoVE it!!!

Cora Jane has come along way from the FuN dance stuff to now the SERIOUS techniques. Mrs. Lisa gives homework and well its not all fun and games anymore. Surprisingly Cora Jane still loves it. And she is starting a new jazz class this next week. My little girl is getting so big! She has really shown lots of improvement and well just growing up! I am very proud of her!

Vera Kate is still in the stage of FUNness at dance. However, Mrs. Lisa informed the parents that they are moving quite rapidly through their tutorials and she is very impressed with this age group. Vera Kate and her little buddies, Karsyn and Mara, had a big change this year. Last year there were only 5 in the class...this year there are more than 12!! That's a big change for them...but you couldn't tell! They are doing fantastic! Vera Kate and all her friends love the "Icecream Dance"...isn't that swEEt...lol!

Its definitely ALOT taking them every week and the expense gets up there...especially for recital time.....but it is so worth it and the pics and memories will forever be timeless!

Let them praise his name in dance; strike up the band and make great music!

Its a Girls Night Out

This past Saturday my girls and I met up with some great girlfriends for a girlie night out!

In Baxley, Annie was being performed by the local arts society. We thought it would be a great show to take all the girls. Well it was a great show....just not for the little ones.

My Vera Kate was ready to go after the second song! Ha! And all our friends were ready too!

So after a LONG, hour and a half, Act I we took off to Burger King for some grub.

I don't know who had a better time, the big girls or the little girls! lol! I haven't laughed that hard in LONG time! It was so much fun and so therapeutic! I hope those ladies know how much I enjoyed it. We are definitely going to get together again! Hopefully sooner than later!

The Last Pumpkin Trip

It was November 3rd when we loaded the bus and took off to Poppell's Pumpkin Patch...one more time!

This was very exciting for Vera Kate and most of her class for this was their FIRST trip on the bus!

I told the teacher that you could probably ride them around the block and they would have been just as happy!

Vera Kate had a blast! We had already been to the patch with Sissy and Daddy but this time was different.

There were things that we didn't do before like; take the hay ride, go to the pumpkin patch, picnic, touch the animals! So this was very exciting....did I mention the bus too!

Vera Katherine is becoming a beautiful, thoughtful, kind, and gracious, little girl! I am so proud of her and all that she is becoming.

For Whitman and I, we are so THANKFUL that this was our last trip to the patch this year! We had been three times and well we've seen enough pumpkins to last a lifetime!

Even so, every trip was special in it's own way! I am very BLESSED to be able to go on ALL the trips....God has given me the desires of my heart...

Communing Over Chaos

I am out-going and chatty. I like to make fun of myself. I love to laugh. I enjoy being with people – until I don't. You see, at heart I am an introvert. At some point I can sense my energy waning. I begin to crave quiet, silence and solitude.This is why I cherish quiet time with the Lord. I love the stillness of sitting and reading the Word or a book that turns my heart toward Jesus. My husband knows that one way to fill my love tank is to give me an evening of going out to dinner alone: just me, Jesus and a good book. (All you extroverts just cringed at the thought of eating alone didn't you?) Don't get me wrong, I adore my family, but I need mental white space.

However, with three kids under age four, quiet time with the Lord is an endangered species. I don't often get to go the bathroom by myself. If the water closet isn't a quiet place, you can imagine the chaos that follows me to my prayer closet.For a few months after our youngest was born I lived in a spiritual desert. My soul was parched. I was desperate for quiet time with Jesus and prayed earnestly for God to help me find time to be alone with Him.

Faithfully, He always provided, but often my tired and flesh-wrapped spirit dozed off in prayer or got distracted by other things.I couldn't consistently make it work. After several months of mostly failed attempts, I cried out to God, "I don't know how to be alone with You!""Daughter, you don't have to be alone with Me. Just be with Me. Remain in Me, and I will remain in you."Rather than give up on being with Jesus because it's not like it used to be, my Savior is asking me to abide with Him all day.

God has ordained this season of my life and He knows even better than I do how much my children demand of me. In the clamor of the sword fights and confusion in the playroom, He is my hiding place.

I am learning to seize each moment, and see it as an opportunity to fellowship with Jesus. While my kids recite "God is great; God is good," I have a chat with Jesus. When I feel alienated from girlfriends, I read a magazine article. P31 Woman and Today's Christian Woman magazines are spiritual lifeboats for me in this season. While my kids do art at the kitchen table, I read a psalm or two. Whenever possible I try to have praise music playing in our house. Sometimes singing those lyrics is the closest my heart may come to meaningful prayer time all day.Please hear me. I am not suggesting that these brief moments should replace consistent, focused times of prayer and Bible study.

Those habits are hallmarks of Christian discipleship and growth. I am learning, however, to rethink my ideas on fellowship with Jesus. In this season of my life it's not so much the quantity of quiet reflection as it is the steady communing over chaos. But hey, at least we are together!

Father, Your daughter longs to be with You. Remind me of Your constant presence. May I seize opportunities to enjoy You throughout my day. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

We're on TV!!!

So as I mentioned back several weeks ago, Cory and I are finalist for the Georgia Farm Bureau Young Farmer Achievement Award.

As part of the interview we are required to do a "profile" that airs on The Farm Monitor on RFDTV.

So here it is. We did this back in September and it airs this month.

I think the team at GA Farm Bureau communications office did a fantastic job. We really appreciate them taking the time and energy to get some really great shots of our family, our farm, and operation.

Character Day for some Real Characters

Vera Kate and, her best friend and cousin, Jesse at their school's Character Day at school.

We are so blessed to have an EXCELLENT christian school for the kids to attend. In order for the little ones to dress up and show their friends their costumes the school lets them have a "Character Day".

They party ALL day long with lots of treats and fun. Vera Kate loves to go to school...but....she says the only reason she goes is to play with Jesse! They are super sweet!

All the costumes were precious and the kids had a great time!

We will not keep them from our children; we will tell those who come later about the praises of the Lord. We will tell about his power and the miracles he has done. Psalm 78:4
