Last week my good friend Amanda and I took the kids to Neptune Water Park on St. Simon's. We had the best time! My SIL had been last year and loved it so we had to check it out! The park was the perfect size for my kids to have a BLAST!! I must say I had a pretty good time too! Can't wait to get back over there!Saturday, June 12, 2010

Randomness in Tyreville
The hail was about the size of baseballs. It was a really strong storm that came about the second week in May. The kids and I were home alone, it was gettin' dark, and we were gettin' a little worried. But the storm passed, not before it left a trail of damage though! Lots of blueberry farms were destroyed, Cory's Momma and Daddy's tree fell on top of the kid's playground, trees were down EVERYWHERE, and we were without power for several hours.
But by the Grace of God everyone is alright and everything can be fixed!

Vera Kate's Dance Numbers
this was one of my favorite pics of her
My Diva striking a pose
VK's first performance was her classes' tap number. They were all too cute with their gloves and Flapper girl skirts. Here again, my doodlebug gets into her performance with facials and all!

The end. Gotta love that smile!
This was the half of V's class that performed at the 2pm show.
I LOVE this smile...can't you tell she is having a ball!
This was their "Spoonful of Sugar" number that they performed in ballet. SO SWEET..haha!
This is V and her Granny BEFORE the show!! I had to beg her to wake up....and when she did she was ready to get on stage! Too precious!
Vera Kate did a great job on both of her dances! Her Daddy, myself, grandparents, aunts and uncles....ALL of us were super proud of our little dancer. She danced her little heart out and was just beautiful while doing it! She loves to dance. In fact, she makes up dances all the time and then performs them for the family....too cute! Watch out Miss Lisa, you've got a future student teacher on your hands!!

Cora Jane's Dance Numbers
This year was kinda crazy with three costumes-but we managed and did beautifully!
This was CJ's favorite performance out of her three. She LOVES jazz! She can really get down too! She gets it honest her Daddy and I love to dance!! I loved watching her...she looked and acted like she was have a blast! CJ really got into it!
I know ballet isn't her favorite, it wasn't mine either, but she made me so emotional watching!
Just beautiful! Absolutely breathtaking!
Cora Jane is fantastic at tap! She really knows the moves and motions of her feet! She runs around tapping everywhere! And I mean EVERYWHERE! The grocery store, the Library, the house, etc. This girl gets into that fancy foot stuff!
Her Daddy and I are super proud of our little dancer! This was her 4th dance recital with Center Stage Dance Company and Miss Lisa. I have to admit I got very emotional taking pics of them together after the show. CJ isn't taking classes next year but plans on coming back the following year to join the competition team!
We want her to find what she loves and stick to it! Whatever it may be!

In the Groove - Dance Recital 2010
This past weekend, Memorial Day weekend, our girls had their annual dance recital. All week long we practiced, had pictures taken, and two rehearsals. All leading up to the big day!
Both Cora Jane and Vera Kate had several routines (meaning several costumes ;) ). I ran around like a crazy Momma trying to make sure they were dressed in the right costumes and ready for their next number! Thank God for my parents and Cory's parents. I couldn't have done it without them. Cory had to work-last minute-but was still able to see the girls in one of their numbers. And of course all the dance Mommas who helped us out too!
The dance studio performed two recitals on this day. Vera Kate danced at the 2 o'clock show and Cora Jane danced for both shows, 2 and 6 o' clock. Needless to say they were wore out at the end of the day...Momma, Granny, Grandma, and Whit too! haha!

Tasty Tuesday: Cucumber Salad
To me the perfect side dish to any summer time meal is cucumber salad. This is a family favorite and has been since I was a little girl. I remember my Granny Folks making this salad for lots of summer parties on the river! Later, she and my Momma taught the famous recipe and I think I've been making it ever since. One thing I LOVE about this recipe is that it is so easy! And then there is the fact that everyone LOVES this recipe. To every church event and every party attended, cucumber salad is always requested. And how can you refuse when it is so easy to make!
This past weekend, we had a family gathering before my girl's dance recital. And of course cucumber salad was asked for! This is a picture of the kids helping my Momma and I get the cucumbers ready to slice.....which they wanted to help with too!
To slice the cucumbers I use a mandolin. My girlfriend had told me about these along time ago and I had to have one for my salad! I'm telling you it makes ALL the difference in the world.
Other than that it only requires a few things.
4 or 5 Large cucumbers
4 or 5 Med onions
4 cups of Apple Cider Vinegar
4 cups of Sugar
4 cups of Sugar
Dissolve the sugar in the vinegar on the stove top. Slice the cucumbers and onions and then place them in a bowl. Pour the sugar/vinegar mixture over the cucumbers and onions (it should almost cover them). Cover the bowl and place in the refrigerator for several hours. I like to make it the night before and let soak all night.
The key to this recipe is equal parts. Vinegar to sugar and cucumbers to onions. Depending on how many servings you might want.
Well I hope you have the opportunity to make this tasty summer salad! I've already made it several times and can't wait to make it some more! It really is a great side to any meal!
God is good...ALL the time,
