Cora Jane's Dance Numbers

Cora Jane all jazzed up and ready to go on stage

CJ and her good friend Madison

This year was kinda crazy with three costumes-but we managed and did beautifully!

This was CJ's favorite performance out of her three. She LOVES jazz! She can really get down too! She gets it honest her Daddy and I love to dance!! I loved watching her...she looked and acted like she was have a blast! CJ really got into it!

Cora Jane performing "Work It"

This is my ABSOLUTE favorite picture! Its so good of her and Madison!

CJ's class dancing to "Smile" by Uncle Cracker

I know ballet isn't her favorite, it wasn't mine either, but she made me so emotional watching!
Just beautiful! Absolutely breathtaking!

And her last number for the night, "Holiday", was AWESOME!

Jaylin, Madison, and CJ

Cora Jane is fantastic at tap! She really knows the moves and motions of her feet! She runs around tapping everywhere! And I mean EVERYWHERE! The grocery store, the Library, the house, etc. This girl gets into that fancy foot stuff!

I loved these costumes......she did too!
Her Daddy and I are super proud of our little dancer! This was her 4th dance recital with Center Stage Dance Company and Miss Lisa. I have to admit I got very emotional taking pics of them together after the show. CJ isn't taking classes next year but plans on coming back the following year to join the competition team!
We want her to find what she loves and stick to it! Whatever it may be!

In the Groove - Dance Recital 2010

Our beautiful dancers

This past weekend, Memorial Day weekend, our girls had their annual dance recital. All week long we practiced, had pictures taken, and two rehearsals. All leading up to the big day!

Both Cora Jane and Vera Kate had several routines (meaning several costumes ;) ). I ran around like a crazy Momma trying to make sure they were dressed in the right costumes and ready for their next number! Thank God for my parents and Cory's parents. I couldn't have done it without them. Cory had to work-last minute-but was still able to see the girls in one of their numbers. And of course all the dance Mommas who helped us out too!

One proud Momma ;)

Proud Grandma and her little ballerina

Miss Lisa and the girls after the show...she is one talented woman

Grandma and Granny presenting our dancers with their flowers

This is one excited little brother. Whitman loved watching his sisters on the stage, but they wore him out. He ended up falling a sleep and Uncle PJ held him through the show.

The dance studio performed two recitals on this day. Vera Kate danced at the 2 o'clock show and Cora Jane danced for both shows, 2 and 6 o' clock. Needless to say they were wore out at the end of the day...Momma, Granny, Grandma, and Whit too! haha!
Both the girls had some beautiful costumes and I got lots of great pictures of them on stage. So, in the days to come, I want showcase their performances individually. Hope you enjoy all the pictures of their hard work.

Tasty Tuesday: Cucumber Salad

To me the perfect side dish to any summer time meal is cucumber salad. This is a family favorite and has been since I was a little girl. I remember my Granny Folks making this salad for lots of summer parties on the river! Later, she and my Momma taught the famous recipe and I think I've been making it ever since.

One thing I LOVE about this recipe is that it is so easy! And then there is the fact that everyone LOVES this recipe. To every church event and every party attended, cucumber salad is always requested. And how can you refuse when it is so easy to make!

This past weekend, we had a family gathering before my girl's dance recital. And of course cucumber salad was asked for! This is a picture of the kids helping my Momma and I get the cucumbers ready to slice.....which they wanted to help with too!

To slice the cucumbers I use a mandolin. My girlfriend had told me about these along time ago and I had to have one for my salad! I'm telling you it makes ALL the difference in the world.

Other than that it only requires a few things.
4 or 5 Large cucumbers
4 or 5 Med onions
4 cups of Apple Cider Vinegar
4 cups of Sugar

Dissolve the sugar in the vinegar on the stove top. Slice the cucumbers and onions and then place them in a bowl. Pour the sugar/vinegar mixture over the cucumbers and onions (it should almost cover them). Cover the bowl and place in the refrigerator for several hours. I like to make it the night before and let soak all night.

The key to this recipe is equal parts. Vinegar to sugar and cucumbers to onions. Depending on how many servings you might want.

Well I hope you have the opportunity to make this tasty summer salad! I've already made it several times and can't wait to make it some more! It really is a great side to any meal!

Cora Jane's Honors Day 2010

CJ showin' off her medals
I can't believe how fast this year has come and gone! My big girl had her Honor's Day on the last day of school and we were very blessed to be able to attend.
Grades 1st and 2nd sang several songs for us and then the awards presentation began.

Cora Jane did a great job singing all her songs. They are getting so big but are still so sweet!

My CJ receiving her MANY awards!

My nephew, Trey, receiving his many awards!

Daddy and his big girl!

She needed help holding all those awards ;P

Trey and Cora Jane (best cousins) and their awards! We were all so proud!

Caroline and CJ struttin' their stuff!

Mrs. Deen and her 1st Grade class at ACA 2009-2010

Cora Jane had a great year and in the end she received many awards including: Top Math Award, Top Reader Award, A Honor Roll for the whole year, THE PRINCIPAL'S HONOR AWARD, and for a character award - Most Thankful.
Needless to say we are very proud and blessed to have such a talented and sweet little girl!
A week after school got out, we received her report card and her testing scores. Her report card was no surprise to us. BUT her scores were OUT OF THIS WORLD!! She scored perfect scores in almost every subject. If it wasn't a perfect score it was just shy!!! Her Daddy and I are so happy that she is exceeding so well! Thanks be to God for giving us a talented and intelligent little girl! Yee Haw, Cora Jane! Way to go baby girl!!

Vera Kate's Graduation Performance

Vera Kate is a mess with all her expressions. She was cracking us all up!

This song had to be one of absolute favorites! She literally gets into each and every emotion of the song. In the bottom left corner of the video, you will see my adorable nephew, Jesse. He too has those facial expressions that are priceless! LOVE IT!

There are around 25 students, all together, graduating. The top row of students are in the 4 year old PreK and the bottom row is the 3 year old PreK.
They were all so precious!

My doodle bug receiving her diploma!! Time is flying by!

There was so much more singing but I picked out my favorites to share. What a sweet time it was watching our little girl having her first ever performance that was just hers...not something she shared with Sissy. We are all very proud of our Doodlebug! The graduation was a pleasure to watch and we hope you think so too!

Christian Videos | Jentezen Franklin

Last week I shared with you the beautiful song Time in Between by Francesca Battistelli (?). The song really struck my heart and reminded me that my God was there before, was there when it happened, and will be here afterwards.
As I rocked my precious baby boy to sleep tonight, Cory and I watched one of our favorites (whom I've shared with you before), Jentezen Franklin. Cory and I both are amazed at how God is working in our lives and how He is there with us during our time of in between, our rock and a hard place.....OUR HARD PLACE! This sermon was exactly what I needed to hear and I am so thankful for this man of God to bring us His word. At the end of the sermon, Jentezen mentions that he is supposed to preach this message for someone out there....I'M THAT SOMEONE!!!!
God is so faithfull to me. I love Him so much! If you are going through a tough patch, or have already been through one, you have got to watch this video.
I pray it touches your heart as much as it has mine. I just had to share.
