WMU Christmas

The women’s group at our church has been getting together for Christmas as long as I remember.  We always have a blast no matter were we go…….and we have been to several local spots!

This year the group gathered at Joedy’s Seafood restaurant in Alma.  Oh my…..they have the best seafood anywhere around.  And their cheesecake is to die for!  I started out as the only one getting a slice, and by the time I got mine all the women were fighting over that cheesecake….haha!  Not really, but there were lots of women who opted TOO get cheesecake after they saw mine…..yum, yum!!

We have an ornament exchange….dirty Santa style!  Hehe!!  The only thing is we don’t abide by anyone’s rules except ours!  So one ornament could be taken as many times as we wanted!  Woohoo…was that a blast or what!  Between myself, Cheryl, and Lorie, I think one ornament got moved around at least 5 times!  But of course, I finally conceded…..that’s right….I’m the one who finally gave up (can you hear the sarcasm in my voice)!!!  No.  Really we had a great time and can’t wait for us gals to get together again for some good food and fun!!!

Our littlest chica, Emma, had a great time too!  She is a great baby…always smiling.  I found several things she really liked…the flash on my camera, baked potato, and cheesecake (Mrs. Lorie’s idea..not mine).  I don’t think her Momma, my good friend, Nikki was very happy about the cheesecake….sooorrryy Nikki!! :(

I am so blessed to have some super, awesome, ladies to fellowship with!  I am excited to see all the work God is going to minister thru us this next year….and the fun we’ll have doing it too!

God is good…..ALL the time,

Big Buck!

IMG00093-20101204-1033

For weeks my husband had been hunting.  Weeks…..and nothing!!  He is not the type to see a buck and shoot.  He is very picky when it comes to the deer he kills.  And I am very thankful he is like this……I don’t have lots of deer to hang up all over the place ;)

On this special day Cory got him a really nice buck!!!  We were all super excited when we got the text from Cory.  The kids and I usually get up and then text him to see if he has seen anything, and this particular morning not only had he seen something but he got a big one too!!!  The kids and I got dressed, grabbed breakfast out the door, and rushed to Daddy’s side to see his Big Buck!!

IMG00091-20101204-1030

We were all pretty excited!  Whit was especially excited….he kept saying “dead buck, dead buck”…hehe!  Too cute!!!  CJ and VK had been there done that…..so the excitement was there but not like it was for Whit!!!  I love sharing this kind of stuff with them.  I remember being a kid and going hunting with my Daddy and being all excited too!!  Life is good!

God is good…….ALL the time,

Georgia Farm Bureau Convention

The first weekend in December, Cory and I attended the Georgia Farm Bureau’s Annual Convention at Jekyll Island.  We start our second year of serving the state’s Young Farmer Committee with lots of anticipation and hesitation.  We are so excited to meet our new members for the committee but hesitate to see the second year members leave.  We have had such a great time getting to know these committee members and look forward to working with the new ones this net year!

After our committee duties, we all met up for some great food on St. Simons.  I really enjoyed this time because this meant I got to hang out with my bestie Mandy!!!  Mandy and I were roommates in college and have been the best of friends since then.  We have been there for each other through everything these twelve years.  I absolutely love this chica and am so thankful for this time I get to spend with her!

Two of my most favorite people……in the world!

The convention is always fun to attend.  Who can resist ALL the grilled PB &J sandwiches a girl could eat, ice cream sandwiches galore, and a rare fellowship…..not too many young farming families out there!  It is definitely a time Cory and I look forward to each year.

The Georgia Farm Bureau has opened so many doors for us and we are so thankful for the opportunities it continues to present.  Cory has the gift of gab so he loves to get with all these other farmers and talk the fields up!!  We are counting down the days until our next FB trip!!!

Its also neat to see so many old faces from college.  Lots of friends from ABAC are involved in FB too.  How neat it is to reminisce about those days, and now gloat about our kids and farming lives.  God is so good!

Farm Bureau is an awesome affiliation that correlates the priorities in our lives; God, family, and agriculture.  Who could ask for a better organization to represent our business and way of life.

God is good……ALL the time,

Housewarming Dedication

image

After we bought our house, my good friend Lora and my SIL Christy asked us if they could have us a housewarming party.  We were so grateful for their thoughtfulness and generosity!  Their idea was to have something before Christmas so that guests could shower us with Christmas decor, etc.  FYI-we lost all our Christmas in the warehouse fire this past May.  So not only were we starting out fresh with Christmas stockings, tree, lights, decor, but we were starting out fresh in our new home right at Christmas time!  What a blessing our family, friends, and community have been!  WOW!

Before we bought the house I had seen somewhere of a House Dedication Ceremony.  I was really interested in this and how the family dedicated their home and all that happened in it to the Lord.  Cory and I decided that this was something we wanted for our family too.  We got our Preacher involved and from there had a little ceremony set up for the party too!

Christy, my SIL, is very creative and wanted to do something for the kids to have fun with.  She has a recipe for ornaments.  The kids all got to make their own ornament and then make one for us to place on our tree!  So sweet!  They turned out perfect and they smell soooo good too.  You can check out the recipe for these here.  Thanks Christy for a great idea and beautiful ornaments we’ll always treasure!

I am very blessed to have so many friends and family that contributed a special dish to our shin-dig!  These girls, however, were the brains behind the organization and success of our Housewarming.  Thanks to ALL those who helped make our special ceremony and party a HUGE blessing!

Thanksgiving Blessings

DSCF4975

Thanksgiving this year was spent at our new house.  We were so excited to have our family come and join us during this thankful season.  What better way to spend it then in our new home that we had been waiting for for years.  We are so thankful for God’s gifts and the family that was there to share with us.

For the first time in mine and Cory’s marriage we used our fine china with family.  I was so excited to share it with everyone….I know that’s silly but we’ve been married for eight years and I have always wanted to share it at a holiday dinner!!  Woohoo!

Thanksgiving was simple, precious, and wonderful!  We are so thankful for the family, the love, and the treasures God allows us to share with others.  I pray that were ever you were this Thanksgiving that it was just as special as ours.

The Sunbelt Ag Expo Trip

I am really behind on some of my posts, but better late than never I guess.  So on October 21st, CT and I took the little man to the Sunbelt Ag Expo in Moultrie, GA.  CT and I both grew up coming to the expo and even in college we would work the expo for our schools.

We were really excited to take our little tractor boy to the expo for all the fun he could imagine! I bet it felt like Disney does to some of us.  This youngin’ LOVES tractors.  And even better, his Papa and Uncle Bubba were going to meet us there.  I think the only reason Papa came was to see how many tractors he and Whit could see in one day!!  Haha!

The day was perfect!  CT and I both agreed it was the best time we had ever had at the expo.  Just watching Whit seeing all the new tractors, getting to climb in on the tractors, and even getting some new ones of his own!
